[Concept – Construction – Prototyping]
Inspired by similar established initiatives, the co-driver network provides mobility options in rural areas where access to public transportation is inadequate. Signs attached to colorful benches invite users to select their desired destination and be transported in that direction. To bridge the waiting time, the bench can be used as a gymnastics apparatus under the motto "Fit through waiting".
The concept was developed in Oberzeiring [AUT], one of the remote places studied by the Human Cities/SMOTIES project. Here a prototype that is still actively used by the local community today was established in 2022. The concept also includes possible locations throughout the region to create the network and an online platform for communication and planning trips.
