[Concept – Arabic Type Design – Latin Typography – Illustration – Layout]
This bilingual book cover for a novel inspired by Raya and Sakina, two famous Egyptian serial killer sisters whose story has been adapted into several books, movies, and plays, combines different forms of Arabic lettering, Egyptian symbolism, and Latin typography. The high-contrast design was influenced by the 1920 murders in which the sisters drugged several young women, stole their jewelry, and buried them in their basement, only to be discovered years later.
